Independent – We are autonomous (self governed) meaning we do not belong to or are under any convention, committee, or fellowship Fundamental – We stand on the Fundamentals of the faith and believe God said what He meant and meant what He said Baptist – We are Baptist in Distinctive Evangelistic – Our focus is soul-winning. The great commission is where we receive our marching orders to win the lost, and baptize them by immersion; enlisting them into the ministry of the local church, and equip them through discipleship to reach others for the Lord. Mission Minded – Our duty is to reach our Jerusalem, while involving ourselves in state, national, and world wide mission through Faith Promise Missions giving.
What we believe: The Word of God
We believe that the Word of God is inspired, inerrant, and infallible. We believe the King James Bible is the preserved Word of God for the English speaking people. We believe the Word of God to be our sole authority in all matters concerning faith and practice. (I Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21).
The One True God
We believe in one God (monotheism), eternally existing in three Persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit—the Trinity. They are co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and have the same attributes and perfections (I John 5:7; Matt. 28:19; Deut. 6:4; II Cor. 13:14; John 14:10, 26).
The Lord Jesus Christ
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, that He was supernaturally begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, and is truly, 100 percent God and truly is 100 percent man. He is the only begotten Son of God and at the same time God the Son; therefore, the Lord Jesus Christ, sinless, omnipotent, omniscient, Saviour of sinners, King of kings, and Lord of lords. We believe in the literal, physical, bodily resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His literal, physical, bodily ascension into Heaven and in His present work there as High Priest, Mediator, and Advocate on our behalf (Matt. 1:20-21; Luke 1:35-36; 2:10, John 1:14; 3:16, 11Heb. 9:24; 10:20-21; I Tim. 2:5-6; I John 2:1, 2, 4:9).
The Holy Spirit
We believe that at the precise time of the new birth the believer immediately receives the Holy Spirit and is by Him baptized (placed) into the body of Christ, is forever indwelt by the Holy Spirit as Comforter, Teacher and Guide, and if yielded to Him, is filled by the Spirit and is empowered for the Lord’s service (John 1:32-34; Acts 1:8; Acts 15:8; Rom. 6:13; 12:1-2; Eph. 5:18).
The Creation
We believe in the Genesis account of creation, and that it is to be accepted literally, and not allegorically or figuratively; that man was created directly in God's own image and after His own likeness; that man's creation was not a matter of evolution or evolutionary change of species, or development through interminable periods of time from lower to higher forms; that all animal and vegetable life was made directly and God's established law was that they should bring forth only "after their kind." (Genesis 1:1,11,24,26-27; 2:21-23; Exodus 20:11; Nehemiah 9:6; Jeremiah 10:12; John 1:3; Acts 4:24; 17:23-26; Romans 1:20; Colossians 1:16-17; Hebrews 11:3; Revelation 10:6).
The Local Church
We believe the Scriptures teach that a local church is a congregation of immersed believers, associated by a covenant of faith and fellowship of the Gospel, observing the ordinances of Christ, governed by His Laws, and exercising the gifts, rights and privileges invested in them by His Word; that its only scriptural officers are bishops or pastors (pastor, bishop and elder are three terms for the same office) and deacons, whose qualifications, claims and duties are clearly defined in the New Testament.( I Tim. 3, Titus 1) We further believe that all services for the propagation of the Gospel must come underneath the authority of the Local Church. (Mark 16:15; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14; Ephesians 1:22-23).
The Ordinances
We believe that the two ordinances of the local church are baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper. These ordinances have no part in salvation and only serve as pictures of what Christ did for us. No Baptism is accepted except by immersion (whole body submerged in water), and not by any other form. The baptism accepted must also be by a Baptist Church of like faith and practice. Because we believe that the Lord's Supper is an ordinance of the Local Church, we practice closed communion when observing the Lord's Supper. We believe that the Lord’s Supper is the commemoration, by the use of unleavened bread and of the fruit of the vine, of the death of Christ until He comes again and that it is to be preceded always by solemn self-examination (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:38-43; 1Corinthians 11:23-24).
Man
We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but because of the sin of Adam we all have inherited a sin nature. Because of sin man not only incurred physical death but also spiritual death which is eternal separation from a Holy God. We do believe in the total depravity of man simply meaning that man is unable in and of himself to redeem or save his lost soul from an eternity in hell. (Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:22-23, Romans 5:12 Ephesians 2:1-3, 12).
Satan
We believe that Satan (Lucifer) was once a created holy being which once enjoyed the amenities of heaven. Through pride and his ambition to overthrow God he was cast out of heaven with legions of angels that followed him. He is now the father of lies, the god of this world, the prince and power of the air, the great deceiver and tempter of man, the false accuser of the saints, the god of the of antichrist, ruler of darkness who is seeking to disrupt the cause of Christ but will only meet his doom when he is defeated by King Jesus and cast into the place God has prepared for him and his angels. (Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:14-17; Matthew 4:1-3; 13:25; 25:41; 27:39; Mark 13:21-22; Luke 22:3-4; John 14:30; Ephesians 2:2; 2Corinthians 11:13-15; 1Thessalonians 3:5; 2Thessalonians 2:8-11; 1Peter 5:8; 2Peter 2:4; 1John 2:22; 3:8; 4:3; 2John 7; Jude 6; Revelation 12:7-10; 13:13-14; 19:11,16,20; 20:1-3,10).
The Atonement for Sin
The salvation of sinners is by the grace of God; who sent His only begotten Son; who lived a sinless life; so that He could redeem us from our sins by the shedding of His precious blood. After He gave His life for us, He was placed in a tomb and on the third day He rose again. Christ is now seated on the right hand of the Father where He is acting as our mediator while preparing a place for those who are saved anxiously awaiting the call of God the Father to go and get His bride. (Isaiah 53:4-7,11-12; Matthew 18:11; John 3:16; 10:18; Acts 15:11; Romans 3:24-25; Galatians 1:4; Ephesians 2:8; Philippians 2:7-8; Hebrews 2:14; 7:25; 9:12-15; 12:2).
Salvation
We believe that salvation is repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that Repentance and Faith are solemn obligations, and also inseparable graces, wrought in our souls by the quickening Spirit of God; thereby, being deeply convicted of our guilt, danger and helplessness, and of the way of salvation by Christ, we turn to God with unfeigned contrition, confession and supplication for mercy; at the same time heartily receiving the Lord Jesus Christ and openly confessing Him as our only and all-sufficient Savior. (Psalm 51:1-4,7; Isaiah 55:6-7; Mark 1:15; Luke 12:8; 18:13; Acts 2:37-38; 20:21; Romans 10:9-11,13)
Biblical Separation
We believe that after a person has trusted Christ as their personal savior they have been sanctified (set apart) for the Master’s use. We therefore believe that believers and local New Testament churches ought to be governed and guided by the Word of God and therefore must separate themselves from those who teach, preach, and live contrary to the Word of God.
We believe that Christians should live a life that is separated from the world and sanctified unto God and therefore Christians should abstain themselves from sinful practices that are contrary to the scriptures. A Christian should seek to live a life that is clean, holy and above reproach. He should exhibit both attitudes and actions so as to be of good report. Practices which are questionable or which may cause another person to stumble or which may mar the testimony of Christ should be avoided altogether. Therefore personal standards of demeanor and deportment are expected (Eph. 2:10; 4:1; 5:1-4; Phil. 1:27; 3:14-21; 4:8-9).
The Second Coming
We believe in the literal, personal, and visible pre-tribulational, and pre-millenial return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We believe that the Lord will return at the last trump, before the seven year tribulation period to rapture His saints, the dead in Christ shall rise first and then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air: so shall we ever be with the Lord. At the end of the seven year tribulation period the Lord Jesus Christ will return to rule and reign for one thousand grand and glorious years. (I Thess. 4:13-18; II Thess. 2:1-3, Rev. 4-18, Rev. 20:4-6)
Civil Government
We believe that God has ordained and created all authority consisting of three basic institutions: (1) the home, (2) the church, and (3) the state. Every person is subject to these authorities, but all (including the authorities themselves) are answerable to God and are governed by His Word. God has given each institution specific Biblical responsibilities and has balanced those responsibilities with the understanding that no institution has the right to infringe upon the other. The home, the church, and the state are equal and sovereign in their respective Biblically assigned spheres of responsibility under God. (Romans 13:1-7; Ephesians 5:22-24; Hebrews 13:17; I Peter 2:13-14)
Missions
We believe that God has given the church a great commission to proclaim the Gospel to all nations so that there might be a great multitude from every nation, tribe, ethnic group, and language group who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. As ambassadors of Christ we must use all available means to go to the foreign nations and not wait for them to come to us. (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46-48; John 20:21; Acts 1:8, II Corinthians 5:20)
Giving
We believe that every Christian, as a steward of that portion of God’s wealth entrusted to him, is obligated to support his local church financially. We believe that God has established the tithe as a basis for giving, but that every Christian should also give other offerings sacrificially and cheerfully to the support of the church, the relief of those in need, and the spread of the Gospel. We believe that a Christian relinquishes all rights to direct the use of the tithe or offering once the gift has been made. (Genesis 14:20; Proverbs 3:9-10; Acts 4:34-37; I Corinthians 16:2; II Corinthians 9:6-7; Galatians 6:6; Ephesians 4:28; I Timothy 5:17-18; I John 3:17)
Hell
We believe in a literal hell prepared for the devil and his angels; also prepared for those who reject Christ as their personal Lord and savior. (Luke 16:19-31; Rev. 20:11-15)
Heaven
We believe that Heaven is a real place that is the eternal home of all who have trusted, by faith, in the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that Christ has gone to prepare a place for us and that where he is, there we may be also. (John 14:1-3; Rev. 21-22)
This doctrinal statement does not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe.
